What Is The Great Divide?
Welcome, welcome, welcome! Before we begin, we have a very special event for you, brought to you all the way from the Elite. The time has come to select one courageous young man and woman for the honor of representing humanity in the 1st annual Hunger Games!
What is the Great Divide and why is this documentary so important to complete? These last few years a great many people are finding themselves divided between Christianity and Spirituality and leaving the church in order to seek out the answers to their own faith. I myself believe in God however, I will say I am not the least bit impressed with where Christianity is headed nor how it got started. I was a youth minister many years ago and the parish wanted me to get ordained. As always, I refuse to allow the thoughts of one to dictate my thoughts about self, God and how I view the world. Even though, this has happened to a large sector of society.
How did we as a society lose control? Did we ever have it and how far is society willing to go before the majority begin to say, "Enough is enough"? I'm not referring to control over others like our neighbors or worldy things. I am talking about control over one's thoughts, feelings and beliefs.... about self; who you are and what you are capable of. Historically speaking Christianity was formed to control the people and now Christianity is similar to that of a sporting event with each religion competing for your attention. How is it that a society can be based on a concept when we can't even agree on the birth date of Jesus, agree on the basis of free will or whether there is a heaven or hell and the list goes on? Is it because they say or the Bible says this is what we should believe or because this is truly what we feel? How can it be the higher ups can hurt others, lie, steal and cheat then turn around and say love one another? On the other hand what has happened to society's morals, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" or "love your neighbor" or "open the door to those in need regardless the clothes they wear"? How did we get so fearful or so easy to judge that of another? Is this what Christianity has taught us? As we all know we don't learn by what another says as much as what another does. Wars, conflicts between governments, friends and families, even many of our choices along with life and death decisions are based on something we as a society know very little about. Once again, "How did society get this way and what direction are we headed?".
Welcome, and happy Hunger Games. May the odds be ever on your side.
