The 1994 Child Safety Bike Tour was approximately
1800 miles. This type of tour was next to impossible to rush, sometimes needing to get to the next school 145 miles away. And you would never really know what to expect along the way; high winds, bridges overridden by the 5:00 traffic, snow storms, rain storms, you name it. Anything is possible. So long story short the trip took approximately 6 weeks to complete. There were three friends who watched over my safety and drove all important materials, gifts and other important items. Mike drove the sag wagon the first 2 weeks, Jeff Roberts drove the sag wagon the next 2 weeks and Cheryl Reed took over the last 2 weeks. Everything worked out perfectly. I will always appreciate you Mike, Jeff and Cheryl!!!

Preparing for this trip physically and mentally took 5 years. With physical training including daily exercise and approximately 100 miles per day on the bike. My biking buddy was Joe Colonna. What an impressive and in shape individual. I'd say Joe was approximately in his mid 70's. Sometims his friend Bob would come to town and Bob would join in with Joe and I. Bob, he was in his mid 80's. Incredible!

My goal and intention during the 1994 Child Safety Bike Tour was to work with as many children as possible to promote what I still stand strong towards, "Never Give Up". I ended up working with approximately 20,000 children during assemblys and seminars along with 100 leaders throughout the communitys in U.S. and Canada, during the 1994 Child Safety Bike Tour. Not to mention the many wonderful, wonderful people met along the way. The story's!!!!!!

These pictures where locked away for years. Meant only for those who were involved with the process of making this trip a success. This I felt very strong about too. Media tried to partake a few times and I booted them off. I did not want to make this a public event or a commercial event. This trip was and always will be very sacred and a powerful moment for me and provided much hope for all involved.
